Ben Hogans Five Lessons The Modern Fundamentals of Golf

You can shoot in the 70’s!

Ben Hogan has long believed that any golfer with average coordination can learn to break 80 if he applies himself intelligently — and here, with Herbert Warren Wind, and artist Anthony Ravielli, he tells you, step by step, just how to go about it.

The greatest golfer of our generation has distilled his experience as teacher, player, and observer of golf into a series of richly illustrated “visual instructions” that not only can improve your game and lower your score, but also can help you get even more fun out of what many people already think is the most enjoyable game in the world.

Each chapter, each tested “fundamental” is explained and demonstrated with amazing detail and clarity. It’s as though the master himself were right there at your elbow, giving you a personal lesson with the same thought and care that has gone into his lifetime of golf.

The Modern Fundamentals of Golf is no instant and easy shortcut. There is none. But with Ben Hogan as your pro, you can master these basic movements very quickly. And then you can go on to develop a correct, powerful swing that will repeat. As Ben Hogan says, it’s only then that you’ll “discover golf for the first time.”

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars It Starts with Your Swing
This book is short, sweet and to the point. I didn’t realize until I read through this how many things I was doing wrong and could kick myself for not reading it 20 years ago. It is the basic fundamentals of the swing that are the very starting point for playing the game. It has changed my life and I’m now able to enjoy the game the way it is meant to be played. After you straighten out your swing, work on your short game and putting and you can be playing par golf.

5 Stars LEARNING GOLF
I found this book to be the most helpful golf instruction I have ever had. I have taken lessons on several occasions but this book was a lot less expensive and easy to follow. I will say I support the writers instruction to spend the time to master a section BEFORE going to the next.

5 Stars Five Simple Lessons from a Master
This is simply one of the best teaching books on golf that I’ve ever read.

Even though this book was written decades ago, don’t let that deter you. The golf swing has changed not a lick since Hogan was dominating the game long before Tiger Woods and even Jack Nicklaus.

Hogan breaks the swing down into 5 simple lessons that anyone can model.

If you are just starting out in golf, make learning this little gem your very first move.

And if you’re a veteran duffer, but not happy with the current state of your game, then use Hogan’s advice to completely rebuild your swing from the ground up. Though it may be painful, in the long run, you’ll be happy you did.

Through the years, there haven’t been many tools which come close to the gold you’ll get in this simple manual. Learn from it and enjoy golf the right way.

5 Stars Great simple book to start learning golf or to help with the shanks.
Great book with specific instructions and even more acute pictorials to demonstrate a classic technique to teach golf. Hogan was a genius and showed the everyday working golfer how to play like a pro (or just look like one). Highly recommend spending less than $10 and a month doing his lessons than spend hundreds with a “formal” instructor. Will definitely buy this book in bulk and send it out to all my golf buddies for gifts. Highly recommended.

5 Stars Best Fundamental book I have read
This is a very detailed book on the basics from a great golfer’s view and use. It clearly shows how [in drawings] and describes why to do it. Great book to grab when things aren’t going well in your game. Just start at the beginning and work your self through the basics. Game should return.
